Improving Your SEO in 5 Simple Steps

The success or failure of your business’s online presence hinges on search engines indexing your website above others competing for the same limited customer base. So, how do you ensure that your website shows up in those search engine results above your competitors? The answer is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Here at Stitchcraft Marketing, we’ve developed a 12-page whitepaper that will help you improve your SEO in 5 simple steps by understanding and manipulating the search engines that index your website. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of optimizing your website so that search engines (in this case, primarily Google) display your website in their top search results for queries relevant to your business. While this process can seem overwhelming, we’re going to introduce you to a lot of the concepts and technical terms surrounding SEO and break it down into five simple steps you can take to start to improve your website. Whether you’re a small business starting out, or a more mature business seeking to increase your traffic, we hope to launch you on your SEO journey.

One quick clarification that will be important in this journey: the two broadest categories of search are paid search and organic search. Paid search is where an advertiser pays to have their terms appear in search results. This can take the form of Google Ads, Product Listings or Shopping. Organic search refers to unpaid search results, or what appears under the paid search results on Google search queries. Studies have shown that nearly 80% of users ignore paid ads in search results and the performance of organic SEO is about 5.66 times better than paid search ads. So while you may want to build paid search into your marketing strategy, we’re going to focus on how you can make the most difference in organic search results.
