A Picture Is Worth 1,000 Words

A Picture Is Worth 1,000 Words

We all know the old adage, but how much do you follow it? Technology has trained us to respond to visuals. With more and more apps focusing on photos, the importance of strong images that reflect your brand are more important than ever. Are you diminishing all of your marketing efforts by mis-representing your products through mediocre images?

When it comes to inspiring knitters, photographs are critical. You’re asking someone to buy the pattern, invest in yarn, and then spend hours and hours creating this piece–if the photos are lackluster, who is going to be inspired to make that type of commitment? Too often we see beautiful patterns struggling for the attention they deserve because of low quality photography.

Today, we have some examples to highlight our point. All of the patterns belong to one of our account managers, Mari Chiba. The photographs on the mannequins were taken for reference in helping with styling the garments for the photo shoots, but reflect how we too often see patterns represented on Ravelry. The modeled photos were taken as part of our pattern support program by Caro Sheridan.
